Would the i3 chip be that much of a boost over their current dual core lineup?

All I really want is blu-ray support and then it'll become an almost instant home theater pc.

Apple probably won't put in blu-ray support because of the royalty/licensing issues and then also their use of iTunes for digital distribution.

Can you open it up and install a blue ray drive? I know probably a dumb question.
