Bilbrey: I'm going to go out on a limb and ask a more specific question you might or might not be able/wish to answer. I have a very specific ram type I'm looking at buying for the mini mac:

1GB PC2700 (Micron Premium - Full Compatibility)

I was wondering if you could tell me if something like this would be OK in the mini or should I stick to the much more expensive Ram available at the apple store. If you can't answer the question or just don't know, I totally understand. I want to upgrade to 1 gig myself but have not idea of what RAM to get other than the non generic.

I obviously can not endorse or approve RAM that has not gone through Apple testing. But from the specs that you list above, I don't see any reason that it would not stand a good chance of working. (We did qualify a Micron 1GB DIMMs, but with 16 DRAM parts.)

Again, I can not provide you with an endorsement, obviously for liability reasons. But if you try the RAM and it does work fine, you might like to report back here so others are aware of how you made out.

I got this from the macworlds forum:

"Installed the RAM last Friday. Use the computer about four to five hours each day. Four+ days so far. Otherwise it's in sleep mode. Ran the detailed Apple Hardware Test on Monday and there were no reported problems. So far, I'd say it's good RAM"

Anyone upgrade their memory on their mac mini? I'm curious. A friend wants to upgrade his.

I was waiting to see if anyone replied. I assume you are bumping from 256MB. But are you going to 512 or 1GB? Has your friend been using it with the current amount of memory and having problems? 256 will work well for e-mail, web surfing, etc. But if you want to load over 5,000 photos, or do video editing then 512 is better, but unless you really know you need the memory, I tell people not to get the 1GB. Save your money for future purchases!
