Mac Help: Where to buy dual g4 heatsink???????

I just bought a dual 867 g4 cpu for my tower (upgradingfomr singlew 800mhz..weee),
now i need dual heatsink for it. Any ideas?

i think you just broke the golden rule of macs: When you feel the need to upgrade, just toss it out and buy a new one.

and btw, yahoo and google searches didn't reveal any places that sell it, neither did ebay

macs are very upgradable. Windows people jsut dont know about it...

I in the past few months i got 1.2 gig of ram for it ($80?), radeon 8500 ($70), 120gb hdd ($80) and now dual 867 cpus ($300)

Did you buy it used? All the Sonnett upgrade processors come with heatsinks.

Call apple up, they will gladly sell you a pair for 300 dollars.

On the bright side, they will probably be pretty.

i bought the CPU oem,
it came off a dead quicksilver tower.

The heatsink is aobut 20 bucks form apple, but they wont sell it to you unless you are an apple authorized business (they dont sell parts that are not considered user- installable)

Ill call em up in a minute to check it out

Just curious but what happened to the heatsink that was originally in that dead tower?

And if you have an Apple store near you, it's worth a shot going through them to buy the heatsink. The manager at the one nearest me was pretty flexible when a friend just wanted to buy a replacement case (the legs on his tower snapped "unexplicably" during a party.. we knew who did it but had no proof).

i have no clue whta happened to the tower, i found the cpu on ebay and emailed the guy asking how much he wants for it. He sold the card for 300 (hot deal, it would go for around 450) so im happy. I called the local service center and they told me they cant order just a part. id have to bring it in for a repair or something.

I found one heatsink on macresq.com but im not sure if its a dual cpu one

Try OWC (www.macsales.com I think), and also email Mike Breeden at xlr8yourmac.com, since he knows a lot of stuff.

You might even try eBay for the heatsink

Find an Apple Authorized service place to order one for you. Or, if you've got an Apple store near you, see if they can get one.
