mac g5 memory question

Some are telling me i need to buy the dual channel kit (matched pair) for my g5.

While in PC world i know i can run dual channel and save money buy just buying two sticks of the same size and brand of ram.

Is it not the same with the g5?
Do i absolutely NEED to buy the ram as a dual channel kit?
 
It looks like crucial sells individual sticks (I didn't look too hard), so I'm guessing you don't need a special kit. 🙂
 
The dual channel rule you follow for the Mac is the same as with any other machine; it's a good idea, but not required. "Close enough" usually works.
