How did you come across a G5 case?

I tried to get one, but they are REDICULOUSLY expensive...

I hope you didn't just pull the guts from a G5 to put something x86 in there... ;-)

Welcome to Macintosh. Resistance is futlie.

You will be assimilated into our one-optical-drive mandate.

Seriously, though, I envy you for being able to get your hands on one of these; they're pretty rare. My advice on adding drive bays would be to remove the drive bay from an old case, use a dremel or similar tool to cut out appropriately-sized holes, and put in the drives. Creative placement and modification of the HDD bays may be necessary, though, so be prepared to do some heavy-duty modifications.

Hmmm, so spend $2000 (or rather, have your parents spend that much) on a G5 just so you can NOT use the Mac and just put your PC in its case. Sure it looks nice, but wouldn't you rather have a Mac in your Mac case?

My friend has a VC-1000; very nice case. I know it has a cool slide out tool-less entry and great placement of the HDD cages, though I'm still a little confused on the removeable (or rather lack of) motherboard tray.

What a waste

Did you happen to read the article? He did it as a joke and got the case (only the case, no other parts) free.

Quote from the article:

"Are the pictures real? Yes.
Is it my own G5 case that has been cut and hacked? Yes.
Did I give away two G5 2GHz processors (IBM PC 970)? No!
So what happened?

I got a free G5 shell from a buddy of mine and pulled a prank on a Mac loving friend. He got so upset. I wrote up a little story, my imagination and warped sense of humor kicked in. I sent it to OC.com just to see the reaction. I honestly didn't think it was going to be posted. I cannot believe how fast or how far it has spread on the internet. There are an amazing number of people who are emotionally attached to inanimate objects such as computers. Mac fans seem to be much worse that I ever expected. The G5 is amazing, I would never dream of really doing that ;)"
