Mac Classic II

I have a Mac Classic II that starts up, but then all I get is a disk icon with a question mark blinking inside it. I am under the impression that this means the comp can't find the hard drive or something of that nature. Anyone with any advice on what this is and/or how to fix it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I think it means that it doesnt have a operating system installed. You should look for like Apple / Mac OS System 6 or probably even lower.

Mac classic II uses system 7 and that flashing does mean it can't find an operating system which might mean a crashed hd. Did you have a happy mac before the flashing folder. If you saw a happy mac then likely the hd is ok but just wiped.

The German site Knubbelmac.de recommends MacOS 7.1 for the Classic II and has some links, too:

Try this System 7.0.1 bootdisk (just copy the system part on a floppy disk on your PC)
http://www.mac-faq.de/software/disk-images/system7/system701boot.zip
I hope it works...

Knubbelmac has a list of internet software for the Classic, instruction for connecting the Mac to the Internet, hints on how to improve the OS, crazy stuff.

However, try the bootdisk first 🙂
