Am I the only one who hates the new mac ads. They are so full of arrogance and false information i can't even watch them anymore.

Looks like Apple is following Sony down the path of stuck up companies i wont buy from.

Haven't seen the latest ones i assume you are talking about, but if they are anything like the previous ones, then i'll hate them too.

Theyll probably keep coming until Apple decides to pull the things from the air.

Was wondering when I would see this in the forum. I must give the creators a high mark on the sterotype that the commerical presents to the viewer. They make a good mp3 but for me...will never own another MAC.

These ads are fantastic advertising. Why? Because they are gaining notoriety and becoming a pop culture reference. Why the hell would apple abandon something getting so much publicity?

It probably works great for affirming current Mac owners of their superiority and eliteness. It probably also works great for clueless people who don't know anything about any type of computer, but want to feel elite. It does not do a good job of convincing people who are happy using their PCs to switch to Macs. It only alienates those people.

They're only trash to those of us that know anything about macs and PCs, the average person will just believe what the tv tells them. Thats what annoys me.

Sad but true. Also true is the fact that Apple is continuing to use them because they really do work. A friend of mine is an employee at an Apple store and says that, while he finds the ads to be obnoxious personally, a large amount of customers that end up purchasing computers at his store cite the ads as the reason why they were considering a Mac.

I'm a Mac user since birth pretty much :D but I don't care for the ads either. The thing that is annoying so many people about the Mac is how it has become a trend and a status symbol to own one. These ads only enforce this elitist attitude. I understand that Apple is a company and needs to make money, and in recent times they've actually been finally succeeding in that sense. But at the same time, Apple's new image isn't one of longevity. Certainly they'll have their loyal fanbase that will stick with them no matter what, but the people who they've gained through this "trend" will leave them when the next thing becomes trendy.

The commercial that annoys me the most though is the one that deals with Macs having fewer viruses. The reason Macs have fewer viruses is not because of any sort of powerful security- it's because they have made up such a small percentage of the market share that people generally see it as a waste of time to develop a virus that will only affect a few computers. This commercial, however, is irritating people, and I have seen several people say that they are going to develop viruses for Macs just because of the commercial! Apple don't ruin a good thing we've got here by angering the wrong people ... :(

Well it is a commercial so its in Apples best interests to present their product in the most favorable light.

If it said something like, they are both computers with different operating systems. Each has some strengths and some weaknesses, but we think you should buy ours just because.

Would you like that better?

no commercials will help them when vista comes out.

people want less work and thinking about computers...all this stuff just makes regular customer confused, it doesn't bring them to mac camp.

LOL, no kidding.

Comfortable, form-fitting, extraordinarily functional multibutton mouse from a PC...

At the beginning they were interesting but the one about the ability to use MS Office was lame. Open Office.org makes it obsolete.

That, and the fact that running office on a mac is horribly slow and lags your system. It's like driving a top condition car vs. a top condition car with flat tires. Sure, they're 99% the same, but one just flat out wasn't meant to go the distance.

The first ad or so was funny, but it's getting old. The ads aren't even remotely honest about the "situation", either.

I think they're pretentious as hell.
