I just picked up a new M6811. It is a great machine. I want to thank everyone here for all your posts in this forum. You kept me from leaning a lot about this class of machines the hard way. I do have a few questions for the group, but first some quick background.
I replaced the memory module with a 1GB upgrade from Kingston to max it out to 1.2GB. Then I updated the OS from Windows XP/Home to Windows XP/Pro. Most of the drvers seemed to make the trip intact. I did reinstall the Athlon driver from the Drivers\CPU folder since I read here that was a good idea for performance reasons. Question #1: Some of the advice here seems to talk about updating the CPU with other (VIA?) drivers. It was not too clear if I should do that as well. I did reinstall the Wireless drivers even though I was not sure if I needed to do that. The sound card seemed to be picked up OK.
I havent tested the other devices or tried to burn a CD or DVD yet. When I do play a DVD it is very choppy. It hesitates every few seconds. Do I need to re-install the DVD driver and/or software?
Thanks again for all your help.
