I am serious. Maybe I am stupid too but would like to know before I purchase a large ext. HDD. Please advise.
PS. Why would you think I am not serious?
 
what expansion slots do you have open, and what expansion slot does the card you are looking at use.

If you have one of the same type open it will work fine.
 
Thanks for the reply. I have all my slots barring one PCI slot still available and that includes 1 PCIe slot. All the USB3 cards that I have seen are PCIe and therefor should be OK. Although I knew that, I was doubtful as to whether the mb itself supported the technology.
