I'd love to drive all 3........

I would obviously turn none of them down.

but if I was to be given one I'd take the CTS, cheaper to put nice coil overs and new meat on the CTS than get 150HP out of the M3 or audi, and I prefer RWD for my fun toys. I wouldnt dare drive any of them in the winter in IL

You realize the CTS-V has magnetically controlled ride control right? Coil-overs would probably be a downgrade.

Oh, I'm not disagreeing. I LOVE the look of Audi's and someone choosing one on looks or interior quality certainly has merit...and does not make you a "fanboy". That is what I was trying to say in the post.

Oh I know i'm just giving you a hard time. lol

I got to sling an S5 around some curvy roads yesterday when my friend finally picked his new 2011 A4 up. I know what they mean by "softness" but there's no doubt the handling on this definitely inspires more confidence than the M3 does.

An S5 would be so nice. Was it a manual? When you say confidence...was it just very predictable? Was it because it understeers more than the M3 that it felt more confidence inspiring?

No they actually didn't have a manual, the salesman said that they are sold with the DSG at about a 5-1 ratio, they order very few of them. Its part of the reason the RS5 is going to be DSG only for the US market.

The whole "handling on rails" idea, think of that. The S5 seems a lot less tail happy than the M3 is at the limit, it feels more of the it goes where you point it. you can really really feel the sport diff working with the quattro. That and i'll have to admit, the new supercharged 3.2 6 sounds AMAZING, just a little too quiet for my tastes, but the 5's are more of a GT car than a track monster.

some guy in a 4 door M3 beat everyone except the professional racer in the CTS-V...just saying...the M3 is not bad around the twisties...

It's common for people to compare the CTS-V to an M3, I guess because the CTS is the smallest sedan Cadillac makes, but the truth is that the CTS-V is the same size as an M5 and weighs 500lbs more than the M3, and 200 more than an M5. With that in mind, the M3 should be trouncing the CTS-V in the corners, not garnering praise for barely keeping up.

I always thought it was more in-line with the M5/M6 due to the size and weight. Would be interesting to see if the ATS is ever released and then in a V model. Something a little closer in size to a 3-series with a standard LS3 would be interesting.
