M1 Garand

pontifex

Lifer
Put the order form in the mail today for a service grade Springfield M1 Garand from the CMP.

I've been wanting one of these for years and decided it was time to do it before they run out and the only way to get one is to pay out the ass at a gun show.

I've been wanting one for years, just never have the cash around for one. One day I'll snag one, a trip to Camp Perry is only about an hour and a half from me. 😀

Garands are fun rifles. I haven't been able to "pull the trigger" on one as its hard for me to justify spending that amount of money on a surplus military rifle. I'll probably get one at some point but I hate diversifying my ammo.

I want one of those too but if I'm not mistaken, those are several times more expensive than an M1. I've never even seen an M1A for sale, other than the new Springfield Socom models.

No, they are slightly more expensive. Garand's usually run around 1k for one in nice condition. Basic M1A's start around 1300, with walnut stocks being around 1400

OOS right now, but they are frequently in stock.

Here are all their offerings

Fair enough. I guess if I wanted to save money and still have a quality rifle I would go for the M1.

Actually, an M1A is not that much more.
The Standard can be had for around 1325 or so.
But that almost always includes a 5 round magazine. You can also get 10's easily but not cheap.
And larger magazines are only allowed in certain states.

Last annoying post where I link shit, but I wanted to let ATOT gun nuts know of an amazing FAL deal

Only 3 left. DSA is a quality company. Finding a BRAND NEW, quality FAL, for $999 is sick.

Only 3 left

Yup, I posted it at my local gun forum when there were still 10 left. I'd get one but I don't have the funds right now and am moving back to california for a while and would hate to neuter it.

Oh well.

Garand was first gun I ever shot, and that was just this summer 😀

seemed heavy and quite a kickback, and man it was loud but neat

Just looked at the Springield M1A at Caso's Gun-A-Rama, in Jersey City ... It is nice, but heavy.
It will lighten your wallet by about $2,000 by the time you add Tax and Transfer fees.
They had 2 models .. 1 for around $1700 ... other for $2000 .. I think one had the stainless steel barrel.

There is no THE Springfield M1A. There are several Springfield M1A's. And you should not be paying 2 grand for the basic models. 1400 plus tax. And If you buy it in store you should not be paying transfer fees.
Is it legal for you to buy it out of state and drive it across the line?
