I just finished putting together a new system using a Gigabyte GA-P55M-UD2, and am wondering if anyone has the same problem.

Whenver I go into the BIOS, under the MB Intelligent Tweaker, M.I.T Current Status, it won't let me leave. It keeps updating all the info (e.g. voltage, temp, fan speed) though. Looks like it does something to the USB ports. My G5 mouse's LEDs start flashing steadily, and keyboard's numlock/scroll-lock keys stop working (both 'dead').

I can go without ever going into that screen, but am wondering if anyone has the same problem. Haven't tried updating the BIOS for something so minor.

What really bothers me is that I've had to reset the computer 3 times while in BIOS due to that. Everything's smooth, but resetting while i BIOS won't corrupt/damage anything, would it?

Edit: Yes, I know the BIOS is stored on read only memory;).

Thanks.

I am using a Gigabyte GA-P55M-UD2. If you do not have BIOS rev. f5, you need to update.

IIRC, the screen you are referring to is an information-only screen. You should be able to get out of it by hitting the Escape key.

I had a similar problem on my asus p5wdh deluxe. If I tried to go to the menu with the power and cpu temp readings it would take 20 seconds to get there and wouldnt let me out. Had to hard restart. I tried all kind of things to figure it out, nothing worked. I did a voltage mod to get beter over clock and the problem went away. I wouldn't sugest a voltage mod, but it had good side effects for me, lol!

I'm with the "if it's not broke, leave it alone" camp, and everything is stable right now, so I won't bother upgrading my BIOS. According to CPU-Z, it's F3. And I can definately do without that information screen. I've mashed escape and pretty much all other keys trying to get out, but it looks like it kills the USB ports. Haven't tried it with the PS/2 ports, and won't bother.

Good to know that getting stuck in the BIOS is not a completely unique problem (i.e. I don't have a dud).

Does it ever take a extreamly long time when bios is loading hdd info? That was another problem that was fixed by the volt mod. Just curious.

Nope. Every screen, including the 'Current Status' one loads very quickly. The 'Smart LAN' thing takes a while though to ping the cable or something.

The only thing where the name of my HDD shows up is in the boot priority list, and that's quick.
