Lyme disease gonna kill us all

Case of lyme disease reported a few miles away.

People are in a state of panic, local grocery store is cleaned out, all the canned goods are gone, bottled water shelves are empty, people standing in line for hours to buy a firearm, rumors going around about a lyme disease fueled zombie holocaust,,,,.

Science, why have you failed us,,, we are all gonna die.
 
Lyme disease is one of the few things I'm actually scared of getting. I freak anytime I see ticks. I knew someone who had it and twasn't pleasant at all.
 
My Grandma has had Lyme disease for years now (yes, from a tick bite). No it isn't fun but at the same time why would everone get so panicked? You can't get it from another person...
 
Just yesterday I was looking for something and then came across info on lyme disease. And started reading all about it. I seriously think I've probably had it now since a child. I have many many of the symptoms. Would explain a lot about my health.

When I was little all day long for years and years all I did was run around in the parks and forests barefoot, climbing tree's, walking through the creek, running through fields. Would have been easy to get.

Actually makes a lot of sense. Man parasites are freaky.
 
Lyme and rocky mountain counteract each other. If you have one the only thing to do is go hunting, find a deer, and then snuggle it until you get more ticks and get the other disease. This is a scientific fact.

It seems like Lyme disease attracts an inordinate amount of kooks.

Lyme disease is pretty common around here (Southern New England). It's not a cake walk, but it's not that big of a deal for a healthy adult either.

My brother has had it, my mom has had it, several friends and relatives have had it, etc. I've had ehrlichiosis (as far as I know). Everyone has turned out fine after a bit of treatment.

I tend to favor mosquitoes being eradicated altogether. But then again, the downstream effects, on birds, bats, fish, etc. might be turrible.

She never thought to go receive the recommended antibiotic treatment which ensures the bacteria is eliminated/cleared from the body?
 
Don't worry, I grew up in a hick town too, and the same thing would happen when the latest snowstorm was overhyped. Things will return to "normal" in a few days. In the meantime, you might want to double dose on more cultured parts of the world, or liberal attacking of the liberal media.

You have some extraordinarily dumb rednecks around if something simple as lyme disease can incite such panic. Even snowstorms have killed more people than lyme disease, and either one pales in comparison to lots of medical disorders. The gap is laughably large when you throw in death by electrocution, falling (gravity), and automobiles (inertia).

I get that the unknown is scary, but any moron with an elementary education should know that Lyme disease is very unlikely to be fatal.

Same here on the east coast of Sweden. I've been spared so far, but my dog has had it. He wouldn't eat, would barely drink and could barely walk. He was just skin and bone.
Fortunately after treatment he recovered fully within 1-2 weeks. He wears a tick collar from the first day the temps are above freezing until the first real snowfall.
