I love when papers write "were not immediately available for comment". In other words, "we called him and let it ring twice and published this story 2 minutes later."

Ahh the joy of being a techie. Where they can find out the level of BS by taking a schematic and soldering iron out and asking you to explain how a circuit works, build it, and prove that it works and troubleshoot if applicable :)

Methinks you give them too much credit. My personal theory is that "not immediately available for comment" is closer to "they weren't sitting right next to me as I wrote this". And anyways, what sort of idiot is going to talk to a news reporter about a company executive not having a certain degree when even they don't know the truthfulness of the statement?
