Lung issue with exercise

I'm not sure what exactly is going on. This all started 3 weeks ago with a cold. I was couyghing alot and spitting up clear flem and yellow flem.

About 2 weeks in I saw my doctor. Got anti biotics. yellow flem is gone which is not shocking but this cough is still here.

I can exercise. But I am not doing much. Last night I played basketball and at the start I had shortness of breath. Probably for 5 minutes or so. I could also tell my heart was pounding faster than normal. But after a 5 minutes or so, I felt fine. My heart rate normalized and breathing was mostly OK. I do feel as though I am not getting in as much oxygen as I should though. We played ball for a total of an hour.

About a week ago, I went running and had the same symptoms as in the previous paragraph.

Cough is still here and I have these exercise related symptoms. If I don't feel better on MOnday next week I am going back to my doctor.

But anyway, does anyone know what is going on? Google scared my and pointed to a bunch of links about lung cancer.

Lung cancer doesn't typically produce a lot of sputum and comes in conjunction with a lot of other symptoms (trepopnea, night sweats, pain). You likely haven't recovered from whatever you had. Although the phlegm color/thickness may have improved, you obviously haven't fully recovered. Keep coughing up the junk and keep exercise low intensity until you feel 100%. It'll get better, but if you exercise with an infection, you could make it worse or cause damage to the lungs.
