I built one of their 1280x1024 ones, nice beast :)

if they ever have their own small version of an SXGA for sale with the affordable lamps, i'd probably buy it.

either way, this particular model is a GREAT 'accessory' for DVD's, GameCube, Xbox, PS2 :)

At 854×480 native resolution this would be great for an Xbox 360. If they had a 1280x1024 resolution for my PC I would jump on this.

i thought the 360 was native at 720? wouldn't the 480 look crappy?

I'll definately consider buying this. I read the guides on that site a while back, but didn't trust in my abilities enough to go for a DIY projector.

It is 720p/1080i, and it doesn't look that bad at 480p. I had an Infocus 4805 and it looked pretty nice, although it does look noticably better on an HDTV.

I see that there's a company that is going to be making 1080p 7.1" screens. Those would be perfect for a DIY projector.

As for the Lumenlabs projector, I'm going to wait and see how good the quality is. I don't know how good it will be at scaling and color reproduction and many other things that you need to take into effect with a projector. I hope that it excels at all of them, because this would be great.

this looks really good imho, i paid the 20 bucks for the lumenlabs access and came to the conclusion the end result would be too bulky and not bright enough.

the 150w HQI DE bulb is a nice choice, im very familiar with them from saltwater fish tanks

the 1280x1024 unit i built IS bulky, as for brightness, if you're in a pretty much dark room you'd be very happy with it. its not as bright as the retail projectors, but for pc gaming and immersion (dark room) its a blast. playing company of heroes on a screen and watching the artillery coming is is unbelieveable :)
