I'm reading this right now, and damn if it isn't one of his best novels yet. I'm really enjoying the subject matter, reminds me of The Ring. There are some amazing quotes in it, as usual. One of my favorites:
Has anyone else read it? Opinions? Of all his novels, I think this would make one of the best movies if done right.Centuries ago, sailors on long voyages used to leave a pair of pigs on every deserted island. Or, they'd leave a pair of goats. Either way, on any future visit, there would be a source of meat. These islands, they were pristine. These were homes to birds with no natural predators. Breeds of birds that lived nowhere else on earth. The plants there, they evolved without thorns or poisons. Without predators and enemies--these islands--they were paradise. The sailors, the next time they visited, the only things left on these islands would be herds of pigs and goats.
The sailors called this "seeding meat".
Does this remind you of anything? Maybe the ol' Adam and Eve story?
You ever wonder when God is coming back with a whole ton of barbecue sauce?
