Lull in Video Card Market, Conspiracy Abound

Hmm, I had been in the market for a video card, but...

Has anyone noticed that right now there is such an immense LULL in the video card market? There is just NOTHING going on.

nVidia is phasing the GeForce3, despite its outrageous price, so everyone that's watching the economy is also waiting for the price to go down.

ATI is readying the release of the 8500 and 7500 Radeons, but with its poor introduction, it leaves alot of skepticism and wariness in its wake. Old Radeons are beginning to be phased out (I mean, who really wants to invest in an All-In-Wonder rite now when a better one is coming out soon?)

Guillemot/Hercules' KyroII: Has been doing worse and worse lately, despite its amazing price and performance. Leaves you to wonder if anything is planned for the future, or will the Kyro fail much like the next-gen Voodoos did?

So poor little me, proverbial money burning a proverbial hole in the proverbial pocket, what am I to do? Perhaps there is a conspiracy? Or is this just a little trial for the suckers that are richer than me? And then there's the ultimate reason: Christmas Season...

I think they're waiting for ATI to come out (fully) with theirs first so that they can better time the release of their new card ...

Kinda like taking a small step back to make two giant steps forward.

I do! AndI did!(mind you it was an LE not an AIW). IMHO this is the best time to buy, just as the 'new stock' is being introduced and the 'old stock' is being marked down and cleared out. After all, there aren't many applications out there now that reap the benefits of the next gen GPU and none that justify the costfor performance gain.

Next year, when DOOM and the likes hit the shelves the story will be different... and the now new GF3 and 8500 will be old news... in the clearance section...
