USB would be better. Most stores are clearing them out. WalMart near Stone Mtn., GA has several left.
Someone in another city had paid only $5 for same thing so clearance prices may vary.

Also, if you need a full size 61-key electronic keyboard with MIDI (Casio) you might luck up on one for about $65 at Target (reg. $169). A cheaper model without midi is $35 or so.

I bought one of these last fall and they are fabulous. You can download 72 pix in a minute. You think that's too slow? This is a HOT deal.

Jonno,
That's great!

Darn-it!

I just returned mine because I thought it would be slow compared to my usb Sandisk on my office puter!

What are the file size of your pictures? Mine are about 500kb on compressed high quality. The sandisk usb flies right thru them. I don't know what the transfer rate is but it's not a productivity issue like a direct camera serial port connection would be.

watch out... that lexar reader will not work in W2K... and lexar isn't very helpful....

just a warning....

BTW i am very happy with my $25 sandisk USB reader:)

my files are 250-400K usually

the lexar reader has been one of my fave peripherals ever; and I paid $26 with value dollars! seemed like a good deal then and still does.

I got 1 for free last fall when I got a 32meg card. I keep a 8meg card in mine and use it to back-up Quicken and Quickbooks. It seems fast to me.

Went into my local wal mart on Monday and asked if they had any flash card readers. The guy said yeah. I asked the price and he said $48. I asked him to scan it and I bought it for $14.

USB would be better, but paying $25 rather than $14 isn't worth it.

Got mine yesterday...thanks for the tip rebuilder.

Also, at www.lexarmedia.com, they do have software and drivers for Windows 2000...looks like it just came up (it's version 1.00). I'm DL'ing right now. Thanks again!
