You can download it for free, but there are many flavors of Linux. You can buy it if you don't want to wait on a download. Also, when you buy it you can get a lot of extras that might take you a while to find on the net. It'll usually put you out of about $30 for most general versions.

It may be a better idea to go to Costco to pick up Linux. I just picked up Caldera Linux for $24.99. It comes with Partition Magic, and instant gratification! If you don't like Caldera, there are other one's there like Red Hat, Suse, etc.

Also you can always go to http://www.cheapbytes.com.
The have many linux distros for the cost of burning the CD and labor + S&H.
This averages about $3.00 + $5.75 S&H.

This beats downloading three 600 meg ISO files for RH6.2 and the only thing you don't get, which you get in the 30 dollar version is the books and an offer of tech support (which from what I hear is too expensive for me to consider at this point).

I also hear a rumor the Partition Magic 5.0 is available for Linux, (free ot otherwise) anyone have any idea where I can get my hands on it if it is out? I really need to be able to change my partition sizes without formating.
Thanks! ^_^x

I work at Compusa and recently they were giving copies of Linux Mandrake 7.0 for $1.88. Check your local one to see if they have any left.
