Just like it says, at the Salem, OR Bestbuy (I assume it's a nationwide sale though). $99.99 minus $20 instant rebate. $79.99 out the door for a 12x burner in retail box? Not bad in my opinion. You can be the judge yourselves. And yes, I know there's a cheaper Lite-On from Newegg, but that's OEM. Enjoy!

it's true that liteon's are becoming better and better (compared to some of their old cdroms, lol)...but don't trash LG, they're improving as well.

Use a LG CDRW for 1.5 year, writting is not bad, reading is not as good as other CDROM.

I've heard pretty good things about LG (Lucky Goldstar). OTOH, I would NOT have either LG or Lite-off. I learned my lesson a long tome ago about bying cheap components.

I have a Goldstar (back before they became LG) vga res monitor, circa 1990. Still works with Linux. My first computer (*sniff*... 386-16, 1 meg ram, 40 meg hdd, 5.25 and3.5 HD drives) was a Goldstar. They're built well. Anyway, my cousin bought one of these, and it's not horrible. I'm happy with my Lite-On, but he likes his LG. It's not that bad of a deal at all.

I'd say the Buslink 12x10x32 for $89.99-20 MIR (also at BB) is a better deal... You have to wait on the MIR, but it's $10 less for a better drive (for those who don't know, Buslinks are rebadged Lite-Ons) with Burnproof.
