I'm wondering the same, if it's worth upgrading from my $250 x800xl. I have a week still to return it.

IMO def. worth the straightup trade for the 6800GT at $300

The xl going to a 850xt would prob be worth the $50 IMO

whens r520 launching, 2 weeks? not to say they'll be available then but it may make sense to see what they are actually bringing out and when.

some say the mid-range offerings will be close in performance and price but with the added benefit of newer tech.

Well, i doubt r520 is going to cost 300 bucks :)
This is a decent deal, regardless how good 520 is.
This card is meant to compete with the 6800ultra, not the GTX, thats why it's 200 bucks cheaper.

''2 weeks'' ''Some Say'' doesnt mean anything. It could just as well be 2 months as two weeks. If you want to upgrade now, do it.

Common sense says ATI isnt going to come with mid range 520 chip cards that murder the X850XT, X800XL, X800pro, X850pro, X800XT in there respected price ranges, just as nvidia hasnt released a 7800 vanilla for $280 that would kill its 6800 Gt sales.

Ati'S midrange and lower high range is already confusing enough for the average consumer without throwing a few more X900 whatever cards into it. Won't happen.

Obviously this isn't as hot as the deal ZZF was running earlier, where you could pick one of these up for $250 but even at $300 this deal is better than lukewarm, I'd say it's warm to mildly hot.

Of note is the fact that while this card doesn't have SM3 like the GF 6XXX, and 7XXX series of cards it runs all games except for Doom3, and The Chronicle's of Riddick Noticeably better than a 6800 Ultra, and this is at a 6800GT price. So if you play CS:Source, or Battlefield 2 this is a much better buy than a 6800GT, or Ultra.

Also of note is that ATI will be releasing it's "Crossfire" master cards, and you'll be able to "SLI" this card with one of the Crossfire x850XT, x800XT, and x800XL, master cards, and get a performance increase simmilar to an nvidia SLI setup. Rumor has it(so this is subject to change) that you'll even be able to SLI them on an nForce 4 SLI mobo.

Good find OP
