The weird thing is, that my entire plane got there luggage back give or take a few. There was a lady in front of me in the claims line, who also came from Atlanta on the flight before me and her luggage was also missing. Now here is the fishy part, my mother sent me back all my wrapped gifts for me, my gf and my cousins. The lady in front of me also had gifts in her luggage and some how in Atlanta during a 2 hour layover they didnt have time to get our luggage to our plane to Tampa. So I aassuming someone has some new xmas gifts in there hands plus some very nice Express Studio Pants and Lacoste shirts etc.

I was going from VA to Tampa........but my luggage was lost in ATL. My flight from VA was a small small plane and I actually saw my luggage being put into the plane.

what plane did you fly in

sometimes the plane goes overweight and the 'heavy' luggage stuffed to the brim with gifts are left behind to go under the max weight.

if you flew in a small plane and the next few flights are the smaller regional jets or the flights suffer from the same problem as you had, being overweight, then there is a chance that extra space was already scarce.

usually the last flight(s) of the night are equipped with larger planes and usually include the low-priority lost luggage that you have.

check back at the tampa airport tommorow morning, chances are that it will be there waiting for you to pick it up.

I'd be surprised if something didn't get stolen. Those airport workers are often thieving bastards. I had a pair of new oakleys stolen between LAX and amsterdam, and I know someone whose ipod was fished out of their bag between boston and LAX. I bet a lot of things are stolen that people don't realize.

don't you know all valuables get stolen from checked bags?

you only hand carry gifts/valuables on airplanes

yet another reason I hate that you can't lock your luggage even after you've run it through security.

Last year on a flight from ATL. to Newport News, my luggage was sent on ahead and I was bumped, my bags beat me home by two and a half hours.

the weirdest luggage thing i ever saw happened back in 1997

i was flying back to the US from belgium

somehow one of my bags got routed through atlanta while i was flying through JFK
i figured i was screwed because normally you have to get your luggage and take it through customs with you

but when i arrived in Albany NY , since i knew the bag wasn't on my flight, i went straight to the baggage office and my bag was already sitting there waiting for me! somehow the bag got from atlanta to albany BEFORE i did :Q

Damn you all are paranoid. I've been on dozens of flights to and/or through Atlanta, and I've had my bags lost at least a handful of times. They've always located it the same day and brought the bags to me.

It happens. Baggers don't exactly have time to rummage through every bag looking for gifts.

my friend kind of lost his luggage going from johannesburg to NY, ha da connecting flight from there till TX, seems the plane was overloaded so they left his and a handful others (about 15) out, he had it shipped to his house in TX about 3 days late.

I pack for business trips. The clothes alone are valuable. Not much you can do there.

Would I pack a wedding ring? Obviously not, but then I wouldn't leave it lying around anywhere. The main assertion (or should I say assumption) in this thread is that baggers stole his baggage, and I'm simply saying that the likelihood of that happening is very, very low.

Luggage was found, it somehow never left VA, i guess the 20 person flight was too much for them to put my stuff on. I spoke with 6 CS reps and finally this morning one had the brains to call the Lynchburg, VA aiport and the lady knew my luggage right away. What pisses me off I had my name and cell number written on the box with a big fat sharpy, she could have called me or something. I am supposed to get it tonight from UPS or Fedex.
