Didn't Gabriel tell Mary to name her baby Jesus from the start though?

There must be some sort of witness protection program going on around there.
Michael means "Like unto God", derived from Hebrew

Lucifer means "the Illuminator" or "Bringer of the Light", derived from Latin

Satan means "the Accuser", derived from Hebrew

The story of Satan is that he was among the greatest of the angels, but then he accused God for having a faulty plan. When God rejected Satan's accusations, Satan then sought to change the plan to his own way for his own glory.

Lucifer has been equated to Satan due to the misreading of the passage Isaiah 14:12 that was applied to the King of Babylon --

..."How you are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How you are cut down to the ground, You who weakened the nations! ...

i vote Nebuchanezzar

Lucifer is "light bearer"
I believe beelzabub, baal, satan, and the rest are names based in Pagan cultures. Microsoft wasn't the first business to use the embrace and extend tactics.

Lucifer
(Hebrew helel; Septuagint heosphoros, Vulgate lucifer)

The name Lucifer originally denotes the planet Venus, emphasizing its brilliance. The Vulgate employs the word also for "the light of the morning" (Job 11:17), "the signs of the zodiac" (Job 38:32), and "the aurora" (Psalm 109:3). Metaphorically, the word is applied to the King of Babylon (Isaiah 14:12) as preeminent among the princes of his time; to the high priest Simon son of Onias (Ecclesiasticus 50:6), for his surpassing virtue, to the glory of heaven (Apocalypse 2:28), by reason of its excellency; finally to Jesus Christ himself (II Petr. 1:19; Apocalypse 22:16; the "Exultet" of Holy Saturday) the true light of our spiritual life. The Syriac version and the version of Aquila derive the Hebrew noun helel from the verb yalal, "to lament"; St. Jerome agrees with them (In Isaiah 1:14), and makes Lucifer the name of the principal fallen angel who must lament the loss of his original glory bright as the morning star. In Christian tradition this meaning of Lucifer has prevailed; the Fathers maintain that Lucifer is not the proper name of the devil, but denotes only the state from which he has fallen (Petavius, De Angelis, III, iii, 4).

"...Lucifer was the first created being to exercise his will against God. Since that time, others have followed. Satan caused a third of heaven to fall with him by influencing other angelic beings to make war against God (Revelation 12:4a). They too were cast out of heaven. They have since become evil spirits due to their choice. They now roam the earth, with Satan as their leader and master. These invisible supernatural beings still have power, but it is directed toward evil works of darkness. Satan is still ruling in the earth today, not only over the evil spirits, but also over evil men who choose the same path of rebellion against God."

Behemoth in the OT was most likely the hippopotamus, and the word seems to be derived from a word meaning dumb animal.

Man, I bet that was a long fall. Where "exactly" is heaven??

Its in Utah, but the conditions are so unlivable that no one has actually discovered it there yet.

Nuh uh...

Heaven is exactly forty miles past the moon. The astronauts saw it on their way to the moon, but the government kept it secret because the govenment is working on secret angel powered weapons to kill the communists and terrorists.

I know I'm a bit late on this, but I was curious to the answer to that question myself seeing as that episode aired today on USA. His name was Samael. The L&O: SVU episode is called "Control" in which it is mentioned! Hope it helps!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samael

Please don't bump old threads.

-Thanks

I sympathize with Lucifer. All he did was challenge the establishment and rebel. That's as American as it gets. All he wanted to do was help man from being the easily controlled docile sheep god wanted them to be, giving them intelligence and the capacity to think for themselves.
