I read one of the sequels as a kid, and remember enjoying it.

Then again, I thought COPS (the cartoon) was a good show...

never forget that the best star wars movie was the one that George Lucas had the least to do with.

he should just give his story notes to a talent director and step away.

I don't believe those rumors. He might say he had an overall vision for the saga, but he didn't actually write each movie's script until it was time to make that movie. There's far too many inconsistencies to think otherwise.

He wrote Star Wars as a one off, but when it turned into a huge success it was revised to Part 4: ANH. The rest is history.

If we're to have any hope that these Star Wars movies might hold a glimmer of hope for fans, Lucas needs to hand directorial duties off to someone else. He also needs to surround himself with people who aren't afraid to tell him no, your idea sucks on occasion. Someone to help him write actual, believable dialog would also help.

I heard he had the trilogy planned, but when he was given the 1 shot opportunity, he crammed his favorite parts (wookies) into the one and let it all ride.

When that was successful, we got the second, and then we got Burger King toys and stupid teddy bears in the third.

The second trilogy was marketing and eye candy. No plot, no substance, even less acting (except for the emperor. I feel bad, he was the only good one in there).

The only way Lucas will do well with the last is if he gets someone else to write AND direct it. Let Lucas concentrate on the scenery and costume design and let someone with some genuine tallent do the rest.

Wonder if it will stay true to the universe painted in the many novels that were released. Not sure how far into the future the trilogy will be but the books have gone to the point were Han & Leia's kids are adults.

Main Character of Episode 7: "Meesa think thisa new staw twek isa goin to stinka. Um Humm. Stinka! Stinka!"

George Lucas: "Print the money boys! The oscar's in the bag!"

If true, and if he follows his previous pattern of 3 years between each movie, that means that 50 years will have passed between the release of Star Wars and the release of the "last" sequel.

What surprises me is the need to use money from the 3D releases to finance the new movies. I figured he had enough money to do that by now.

He could just be choosing to not invest money into a project that might tank (although unlikely), and instead just use the profits from the movies he might already be investing in. That way he takes less of a personal hit financially (assuming he has money invested in it of course).

I am available for the next 30 years Mr.Lucas. I know you read ATOT. Contact me at my address in my profile.

If you own something, you can do whatever you want with it, no matter how stupid someone else who does not own thinks about it...

I agree 100%. Lucas can continue shitting all over Star Wars as long as he's alive. It would be nice however if he would released the unmarred Trilogy on Blu-ray as a gift to all of us who grew up in the pre-CGI / Han shot first versions.

I can honestly say I have not lost a moment's sleep because George put the ring blast after the Death Star exploded or when Jabba talked to Han in Episode 4....Sounds like there are alot of people here who cannot make that same claim....

It is pretty sad/funny that people put that much effort arguing about the differences between the Special Edition and the original versions. Like it is going to make a difference anyway.

Yes, it is totally horrible and shocking that people would discuss one of the most popular film series of the last few generations. SHOCKING.

Give me a break. If you don't like the discussion, go elsewhere. Nobody's forcing you to read it and no one's hurting you by doing it.

btw, han shot first and anyone that thinks otherwise needs to be slapped with a trout.

Ha

I think the Yuuzhan Vong story line would be very interesting and would lend itself to some awesome space battles

Hey now, I thought Episode III was halfway decent.

The start of the movie was AWESOME

My issue is these people who give George shit over what he does with HIS property. It is his to do with as he pleases...

I am pretty sure that these people wouldn't want to be told what they should or should not do with their property unless the shoe is different when it is on the other foot...

If you put out work for the public to consume, expect the public to hold opinions about said work. The more popular it is the more opinions there will be.

I'd love to see him give the general idea of a storyline to some talented writers, and then hand directorial duties over to James Cameron. And for the love of the force PLEASE don't give the male acting lead role to Shia LeBoof.
