LTE cap *this Thursday*!?

OK, this is an XDA rumor, but the poster, while not (to me) a known insider, isn't a known BSer either. And it makes sense.

The Droid Charge (the device formerly known as the Samsung Stealth) looks like a superior device (4.3" SAMOLED+ and Hummingbird, not to mention Droid-branded for actual updates), but its imminent release early next month makes it likely Verizon pulls the 4G plug sooner rather than later. Besides, can't you always return the Thunderbolt and swap in the Charge without a data plan change?

I am confused. Why would you want to trade in the HTC phone for the Samsung phone? They both use rehash hardware. Screen's better on the Samsun, but you'll won't see Gingerbread for it until a year or so after Honeycomb/Ice Cream Sandwich make their way to smartphones.

Fully functional Gingerbread is already on most SGS models, and they're not Droid-branded.

More importantly, why would anyone want to buy an Android from a company that doesn't believe you own your own device? No more Moto or HTC.

Not nesasarily. If they truly want to get rid of unlimited plans all they have to do is say you can keep your unlimited your contract runs, change devices, or change plans. Just because AT&T grandfathered unlimited in doesn't mean Verizon will. In fact I don't think they will. At this point I think Verizon is so full of themselves that they think they can do anything, and probably will. Sad thought is I am changing to Verizon in the next couple of months.

If they change the plan on you before you meet one of those said stipulations, you have the option to break contract w/o ETF.

Show me a single official Gingerbread update from Samsung? They only got their Froyo updates out last month. They've a history of not supporting their devices, and having the same problems across them(GPS problems). Its not FUD when its true.

HTC also launched Froyo updates in a mostly timely manner. Even Moto upgraded their high end devices relatively well. Samsung JUST officially released the Epic Froyo update this weekend, after months of false starts and promises. All the SGS phones saw their Froyo updates land more than a year late. Or they wanted you to buy the 'new' version of the SGS(Vibrant 4G).

Odds are, you probably will never see a GB update from Samsung for the SGS line. But you will have several GB launching SGSII models. For 200-250 on contract.

It was the same with the Samsung Moments, so they have a history of not releasing updates. Again, its not hatred, its simple fact. If you want updates in a timely fashion, don't buy Samsung.

Heh, if you want a phone with a working GPS, don't buy Samsung. If you want a phone that doesn't feel like a cheap plastic children's toy, don't buy Samsung.

Its sole saving graces, its AMOLED screens, aren't enough to overcome the problems.

But aren't you claiming in your posts here that Samsung will be better at updating their phones to new OS versions when past evidence has shown this to be false? Moto and HTC have updated their phone OS versions on multiple devices in a much more timely manner while Samsung has only done so on their Galaxy S line and it took them absolutely forever.

No offense, but it seems like you have an obsessive love, so others can justifiably have an "obsessive hate".

Hm, this would explain the rumor. Dropping non-phone unlimited LTE would be a step, but not a huge one for most folks.
