LSI 8408E with 256mg RAM (no answer at Storage review)

I got my 8408E card finally and the SAS drives. I want to setup the drives separate for now until I can get more drives to make some in RAID 5 for the OS and then another RAID 5 for Graphics ect. So how do I set this up?
I can't find the MegaRAID Universal Software Suite CD and have not be able to locate a download for it either. I do see the WebBIOS as the system boots up.

Vista
Ultimate 64 and Ubuntu 9.10

Thanks, JASTECH

Ok, when I get there my mouse won't work (PS/2) so I have orered a USB and should have it early next week. I could not get to other options with keyboard. So, can I use this card and make all droves separate (no RAID) until I get more drives?

Thanks, JASTECH

Create a RAID0 "array" with a single member. If your card has a GUI interface then use a PS2 mouse. That's preferred over a USB mouse with these controllers.

Ok, Done it...Yikes, what a battle for me! I got everything going and have run HDtach on the Seagate SATA II drives, Seagate SAS drives and a Hitachi SAS drive. If anybody is interested I will post the results here or make a new thread? It has been a very tough few days, we had a severe storm and water got into 2 of my rigs and shorted stuff out and my main UPS is shot I think.

Thanks, JASTECH

Is there a way to speed up the drives via the WebBIOS on the Controller? I am asking because the Seagate SATA II drives "Burst Speed" is faster then the SAS drives.

Thanks, JASTECH

Ignore burst speed as its irrelevant to real world performance. The only purpose to have this metric is to find a problem with bus to interface speed, a jumper set wrong, bus hogging, line interference, etc.
