the stock shifter is too tall and too far forward. i'd like one that's closer to the armrest.

I've seen the "fireball" short shifter up close, when I rode in a C5 Vette the guy had it. He loved it and the car was nice and smooth.

I don't have any pics of it tho

Yep the stock shifter is pretty tall, they have a hurst option at the dealership but it's expensive, get the stock and get your own aftermarket.

I don't know what the best Camaro one is, I know in the Stangs I love the Pro 5.0

thanks. i was also thinking of getting an SS since it might become a collector's item IF they stop making it.

Yeah, they'll stop production for a few years, castrate it, then bring it back with an anemic V6 or even worse, a dinky little 4-cyl...yet they will still try to pass it off as a "muscle car" when in reality it is family sedan...similar to the fates of the impala and monte carlo.
