[LR] AMD releasing 7770 1Ghz Radeon shortly with 'Verdetrol'

Obviously it's implied if the 470 isn't faster at stock I must have meant overclocked.

Thinking is good, it prevents conflicts and people getting called trolls. It also avoids a lot of butt hurt within the AMD fan club that ensues when cards deemed as "lesser" beat AMD's best from last gen.
lol

Also nobody better say the 6870 is equal to a 470, I will put you down :colbert:

Explain to me where you implied that you were talking about overclocking performance in this post.

Stick with your card

Your going to have problems because your switching vendors. Remove all ATI reboot then install latest WHQL CCC. You wont see a performance difference, wait til Kepler at least!!!. gl

So you can just ignore what the original poster meant and twist it to your liking AND ON TOP OF THAT we have to guess what you mean? Hell, why overclock? Pull out them Civ V benches!

I give up, no reasoning with unreasonable people.

Seriously?

It's like trying to have a conversation in a dysfunctional family.

This is where this started:

Now think about what I said, where it went, what occurred.

Keep up here buddy, we can do this together.

Let me help...

"Also nobody better say the 6870 is equal to a 470, I will put you down"

A comment made directed towards a chart that showed the 470 and 6870 getting the exact same performance STOCK VS STOCK.

What did you think I was referencing if at stock they seem to be the same in this graph? Think long and hard about it. Overclocking, yep, who knew... Could have been talking about underclocking, or power draw, I can see where you'd get that assumption... No wait, I can't.

Stop derailing the damn thread. Go start you own thread if you want to talk about your cards, no one in this thread could care less. You are in every AMD thread derailing them. Whats up with you?

Comments like this is why you are being called a troll. Just in case you actually care and want people to not call you out on your posts.

If you just said that you bought a pair of 470's for a great price after they were EOL and you aren't interested in a new card(s) until you can get better bang/$, no one would have any argument with that. You're on water, so heat and noise aren't an issue, and any seriously O/C'd card will use a lot of power. So, that removes the stock 470 warts from consideration. Instead you are on a non stop "AMD suxor" rant.

Quit calling people fanbois and quit dragging up cherry picked scenarios that only allow others to do the same to you. At this point it looks like you are trying to create arguments and that's being a troll.

@3D, people can call me out, I don't state bull**** so I have no problem backing it up. Sooner or later people will figure that out and stop attempting to call me out. I never called anyone a fanboy, this only gets harder as your ability to read lessens.

So you went from participating to asking me to make my own thread after the 6970 CF comparison?

I see.

I'm not derailing anything, I'm backing up comments. It's called a discussion, use PM's if you want a private one.

Wow, when Kepler releases, I will be taking a vacation from these forums 🙄 And I will be gaming with my heavily discounted lower performing 7950 😀

I am so tired of these heated debates, really. I just want to see substance in this forum, not 'blah blah blah, mine is better' crap.

You've pissed off the amd shills, I mean fans. If you watch the forum long enough it goes like this. Person says things that don't put amd into the best light. Person is ridiculed until they leave or they are reported by the contingent until they are banned. There have been numerous examples of this. I've already been warned and had an infraction after being reported for my opinions.

Doesn't matter, infractions are the least of my concerns if misinformation, and blind bias run rampant. While suppression of free speech and the right to defend your statements isn't allowed.

Nobody had any problem attempting to argue with me until later in the discussion when benches came out of overclocked hwbot top score water cooled 6870s and 6970s. Then all of a sudden enough was enough, can't let this continue... People might see the truth.

Cognitive dissonance, insecurity and now a persecution complex. Lovely.

This is not a democracy.

Balla show some class and stop thread crapping every thread, no one cares about your space heater cards.

6870==470 @ stock.

6870 Max OC 10-20% on water vs. 470 ~50% overclock on water.

Don't have to put up benchmarks for this comparison, do I? Just wondering, Balla, do you have a way to measure energy consumption with that overclock on those cards? Anand has them drawing 90 more watts in Crysis compared to a 6870 at stock; I know many enthusiasts don't really care about consumption, but I do.

This thread was supposed to be about the 7770 anyway. Not OMGWTFBBQ clocked GTX 470(s) against the 6 series AMD.
97F at 950 core, better get a few more if I expect to heat any rooms aye?
Temperature is different than energy output(heat). Energy consumption(or power consumption as others put it)=Heat output.

750 would be max for pcie specs, but I only have 840w on my 12v, with a 5.3GHz i5 on there and a 9800GT volt modded.

Tech powerup showed a drastic increase in power draw with the 6970 when overclocked/volted, I'd assume the 6870 would react the same.

I know it wasn't my intention, but getting called out wasn't my intention either.

I'm aware, I was aware of that when I designed my setup as well as the heat output. Rest assured my PC doesn't affect my room temps.

Anyways my apologies with this thread.

I'd be surprised if 10-20% was the max that the 6870 could do on water. I run mine on air and can bench 3DMark11 at 1070 core and 1250 memory, though it's only 24/7 under Furmark at 1050. That's 17% core and 19% memory, and I don't even really have great case air flow.

I don't know how bad the 6870 is when OCed. I mostly have power measurements for bitcoin mining which isn't quite as stressful as Furmark, but at stock (1.2V, 900 core, 1050 memory) I draw 223W from the wall with 99% utilization for 289.8Mhash/s, and at 1.287V, 1070 core and 1050 memory I draw 275W at the wall for 342.2Mhash/s.
Power goes up obviously, but watts per mHash goes up only 4.4%, 0.7695 vs 0.8036.

Edit: Up until about 1050, the 6870 doesn't seem to draw more per unit work than at stock. At 1.25V, 1050 core 1050 memory, I only draw 259W for 335MHash/s, or 0.773 W per Mhash, about the same as stock.
