I am setting up a Barton 2500+ system and I am going to try and OC it to the 2800-3000 range. I would like an adequate fan for my Thermalright AX7 for this but as low dBA as possible.

Can you recommend how low a CFM rating I should go with this setup? Any paticular fans recommended?

Thanks!

Supercheap and works good for stock speeds: NMB 18CFM, **18DBA** 80MM Fan. From svc.com, I got 4 of these things cooling my case, they are dead SILENT! 5 for $11.:)

I'm talking CPU fan. I don't think 18CFM is enough!

get something like PANAFLO and to be able to get a good balance between OC performance and silence, use a potentiometer/ fan speed controller.

I havent used it on an AMD, but my P4 2.4 @ 3.06 is cooled with an Alpha 8942 and an 80mm Panaflo L1A fan. 1900 rpm, 24 CFM, 21 dB. Runs nice and cool and is very quiet.

i vote for the panaflo L1A. i tried using a NMB 80mm silent fan before, and even tho it's only 18db, the motor noise was louder than the panaflo. the nmb also didnt push enough airflow to get decent temperatures.
