lowering the mult -> high FSB?

the new BIOS of the NF7-S revision 2.0 has FSB options from 100-300 by 1's. Is it possible to get it to 600FSB (DDR) by lowering the multiplier to say like 5-7?
would this be worth the risk?
is this even possible?

thanks

Since you're the first one to be lucky enough to have a board that can do this, you'll have to try it and tell us. We eagerly await the results!

I would say that if you could use the 7x mult and put it up to 300fsb, you would be pretty lucky and it would be worth it.
Consider the type of ram that you would have to have to get it that high though. I haven't seen many people get a fsb above 237-250Mhz(with an AMD machine), but it's worth it to try.
I would want my mult to be at least 6x or more though cause even at 300fsb, it would only be 1800Mhz but I'm sure the 300fsb would be a good improvement.

I'm not sure what speed a 200Mhz fsb cpu would compare to if you benched it alongside an 1800Mhz @ 300Mhz fsb, but I would guess that it would have to be around a 2.0-2.1Ghz @ 200fsb.
That's a good test to try though.

Chances are that you will not reach the potential of that board until very late in the Barton lifespan, unless you use some insane cooling and super ram ;)

i got mushkin ram at 2-2-2-5 right now running 200x11
could i just put like 6/4 divider or something like that to keep the ram at 400 while the FSB is at 300, assuming i get there?

thanks

I've been able to get my to boot and run benchmarks at 230... any higher and it won't even POST. Occasionally it would poop out because it didn't like the RAM settings I was using I think... RAM doesn't like it above 200 Mhz, so I had to use a divider... and 230(.83) is 191 Mhz... the RAM didn't like an odd setting like that I guess. Too bad it won't post at 240... that would be nice. Oh well =)

An Intel C system is quad pumped x 200. I don't imagine right now an AMD or a AMD mobo running any more than 250 no matter what ram you use. The nforce 2 is only recommended to 200, and the highest I've seen OC'ed is maybe 230-240.

Shite!!!! Don't go for it all at once...Try 210,220,230 and so on.....

The chipset would probably need a LOT more voltage, some heavy cooling - as would the RAM. I don't know that you'd make it to 300 then either.
