The 1 gig microdrive is actually packaged by iomega. It comes with the PC Card adapter. Even though it is sold by iomega, it's actually made by IBM. It actually says so on the drive itself "Made for Iomega by IBM". Free shipping to boot.

Good deal, thanks. The 20% off clinched it for me. Awesome...5GB of CF storage for $920 🙂 + tax 🙁

Are there any differences between the IBM model and the Iomega, or are they the same exact drive mechanism?

This is a hot deal, just ordered a 1 Gig for my Canon G1. And I almost bought one directly from Apricorn (IBM Microdrive closeout) on a closeout price of $269.00 (which still isn't too bad) but this is even HOTTER! Thanks...damn you guys are good!!!

TEMPTATION ALL OVER AGAIN.

tell me of this "DELL 4100 INSPIRON" deal of yours...i may need a laptop, you probably won't need one cause you have a laptop. Unless you got a PDA or camera.

I have been putting off getting some larger storage for my iPAQ (been stuck at 128 MB). This price is too good to pass up. Thanks for a great deal.

ok ... then how bad does one of these suck a ipaq battery if I was to use it for MP3, movies, program storage?

<< Why do you really need this much storage? Give me a few reasons: >>

hk29,

Where this much storage really comes into play (assuming your digicam supports CF Type II) is for taking/storing pictures and movie clips using a digicam. Using a 128 MB SanDisk CF in my Canon G1 (3 MP images using JPEG compression), I can store 252 high resolution images. If I take several 30 second movie clips, then the number of shots that the SanDisk can store will vary. With the same settings, using the IBM/Iomega 1 GB Microdrive, I'll be able to store almost 2,000 high resolution compressed images (or I can store over 300 3 MP raw images).

Thats a lot of pictures!! I guess this product is not for me... I really don't ever see myself using that much. I would use it for both my camera and my ipaq. I guess on my ipaq I could store movies to watch on the airplane or somewhere... thanks for the input.

I hear it's about an hour of continuous MP3/movie play with the CF sleeve and about 4 hours with the PC card sleeve w/ the battery in it.

I'm usually at home, in the office or in the car, so I'd always be near a power source (once I get the car adapter), so I'm going to jump on this.

Must be one of those Toshiba PC card drives.

Don't those suck batteries even worse? Course you have the battery in the sleeve, so it's probably a couple hours yet.

I can watch about 3 hours of video.. but I have battery expansion.. so it is alot longer.. than that... really I don't have any power problems....
