Si is suck. Edmunds list the price with side airbags at $19,710. For $19,710 you can get...
1) 150hp Honda Civic LX Coupe (manual transmission also) for a TMV of $17,933. Hmm roomier, cheaper, and only 10hp less. (200hp V6 LX is $21,091 ($1381 more than the si)) :p
2) 175hp Nissan Altima S for $17,936
3) 175hp Nissan Sentra V-Spec for $17,042
4) 157hp Toyota Camry LE for $18,943 (Though this thing is as ugly as the Civic SI)
5) 175hp Mercury Cougar Sport Ultimate $18,981
6) 200hp Chevy Camaro $17,729
7) 190hp Ford Mustang coupe $17,044
8) 165hp Subara Impreza 2.5 RS Sedan $18,683

And the list goes on and on. Don't waste your money on an ugly, overpriced, and underpowered car.

Sorry Honda, but you really screwed up on this one.

You mean Honda Accord for #1. And the SI is underpowered? Correct me if I'm wrong but those things could do low-mid 15's bone stock and pretty much keep up with any of the cars listed above
IIRC, 0-60 in 7.6, 1/4 mile in 15.8, and 63mph on the slalom...for less than that price, there's still plenty of Asian, domestic, and a European or two that will best it

The Si isn't a bad car. personally I'm a bigger fan of the 01 Si. The new hatch is ugly as hell, but decent.
If I were you, I'd lay down the extra cash for a 6-spd RSX Type-S...or, maybe an 00-01 Integra GS-R. I own a 94 Integra LS, integras are great cars! :)

I have a '00 SI and love it - with a supercharger and mp3 player, driving it is a joy, but I have to agree that the new SI hatchback is fugly...very fugly :p

It's like an ugly overweight base RSX with fewer features, and a very slightly de-tuned engine, for $900 less, but the difference will be moot if Acura dealers discount the RSX and Honda dealer don't discount the Civic Si, which I predict will be the case for awhile.

The RSX gets better gas mileage, too. I'm sure the final drive is higher on the RSX though.

Advantage: RSX.

while i agree its not worth the current price, they'll probably drop it:p i remember the last gen si dropping to a more reasonable level eventually. especially since the current civic no longer looks better then the corollas;)

It's a Honda. It costs under $20K. It should give you significantly less problems than a Ford or a VW.
Yeah but why not a Matrix XRS or Nissan SE-R Spec V, both of which have 20 and 15 more horse power respectively! Plus with the Nissan at least (not sure of Matrix) the torque is significantly higher so you don't have to rev it high to get your power.

Don't forget that out of all of them the Sentra is the only one with a limited slip differential so the handling should be a lot better too!
