Hmmm I heard when you work a max of 8hrs a day (40hrs a week) - there is time for other things.

No no not watching American Idol finalist
No no not watching Save The Last Dance
No no not watching Americas (Doesn't) Got Talent.

But rather... learning... adapting. Take myself for instance: I am employed, yet I am studying for IT certs to further myself. Crazy, I know! There's more than 8 hours in a day, who knew? No one said anything about college. No one said you can't push and show your strive for a management position wherever you work too.

But when you consistantly show up late. Leave early. Don't pay attention. Get complaint's / write-ups - then something tells me you are bound to stay where you are at.

Adapt or die - it's the way the world was made to work. Common sense. You lack some.

THERE ARE NOT ENOUGH IT JOBS FOR EVERYONE. Why is this so difficult to understand? Everybody cannot possibly get better jobs and move on from Wal Mart. If they tried to, those IT jobs would pay just as low as Wal Mart!!

Let me say this again. There are not enough skilled jobs for everybody. If everybody learned the skills that currently can get decent paying jobs (not necessarily though), the wages would decline to match. Don't you understand basic God damn economics?

That world does not exist. You could easily be replaced by any of hundreds, maybe thousands, of kids that graduate with a degree in your field in May/June and for half or less of what they pay you. Reality and you just don't see eye to eye, obviously.

Judging by the how much trouble my company had find new co-workers I am going to call BS on that.

Yes, because when I said IT jobs - that was the only possible direction of turning

How many times do I have to re-iterate and prove how narrow minded liberals are? You can't seem to get past an example as if there aren't more options when an example is given

Go to Culinary night school and become a chef. Last I checked, there is plenty of demand for that considering everyone needs to eat.

Go to a Cosmo School and learn to be a pro at hair styling (And yes, some make BIG dollars simply cutting hair believe it or not - my old haircutter got promoted so much that they started charging $60 for my cuts).

Go be a trucker that drives 18-wheelers, many make over 6 figures.

There are shitloads of options, with many people coming up with new ideas daily. Get out of your narrow box of close-mindedness.

Well he did say he was studying IT. Maybe he should take some econ classes while there. He may learn something. I mean hell we could flood the market with Dr and make it easy to get your PhD..and eventaully they would be paid min wage if you let it go on long enough.

It's so hilarious, you guys act as if everyone wants to get these skilled jobs - they are just smart and say "Well if I go in, there won't be any money left for me!" - that is your excuse for people staying with Walmart. Really? REALLY? D:

This applies to all skilled jobs, not just IT. It's just physically impossible for everyone to have a "good job". A large part of the population will always have to work those unskilled retail jobs.

Reminds me of this:http://dsc.discovery.com/fansites/dirtyjobs/mike-rowe-senate-testimony.html

theoretically, think how pointless it is to feed and care for people, and then have them twiddle their thumbs all day. You could put them to use doing SOMETHING, ANYTHING and it would add to our overall pool of wealth, so something is wrong with the economy in that respect.

Normally 20-29 is the prime working years, especially for manual type of labor. I see tons of projects around me that could use good old fashioned work, like old bridges, old dams, etc. Meanwhile youth unemployment is like 16% USA, 25% Europe overall, 50% Greece, eh.

Solution: Higher minimum wage. Price control always work.
Absolutely! Employers will gladly just take the hit and hire just as many people as they would have otherwise. They won't raise the prices of their goods to compensate either! YEAAAY Solved.

Seriously, as soon as you mandate $15 an hour as the minimum prices for everything will go up. That $15 will be worth less and the wages of skilled workers would just go up in proportion.

No the point is 75% of the population is pretty retarded as a whole. You need unskilled jobs for these 75% that have no ambition to further they job growth.

Hell even your IT degree you are trying to get isnt going to last at good pay. With outsourcing etc IT pays less and less all the time.

Youll figure it out someday when you grow up. We are all young and dumb at one point or another.

Except the prices of everything won't double and the value of a dollar won't become halved. Increasing minimum wage does not cause inflation because the total number of dollars doesn't increase.

Increasing min wage increases the share of money going to the bottom of the workforce, which is a good thing.

That's a good point.

If the money supply doesn't increase then there simply won't be as many jobs as there are now.

I think we could count on the Fed to print more money.

... Who said I was limited to my "IT degree" - which obviously you have 0 clue what it is. They are certifications and are completely different. And yes - getting certs from the likes of CISCO will get you MUCH further than you realize detective Sherlock. You obviously have no idea what you are talking about because you are under some impression that those items are going to be outsourced :D

I actually have a bachelors in manage information systems, the IT is a stack on-top of it instead of simply acting as if your training is done once you step out with a bachelors

And yes, 75% of this nation IS unskilled. Are you implying that we need to create jobs tailored to unskilled people? Haven't you understood the situation yet? You have to adapt to what is happening in the world -- or die. We aren't here to hold everyone else up that wants to remain an unskilled worker. Hate to break it to you, but unless we become China (Which will happen under the likes of voters as retarded as you that think we need to "make" unskilled jobs) - it won't happen.

Skill-less jobs only get less and less. They will never become more and more. We need less custodians. We need less cashiers. We need less sales representatives. We need less retail outlets (A'la ordering online).

Except that in order to get to the profits needed for investors, everyone will increase prices all around - thereby creating the inflation  - Inflation doesn't simply revolve around how much money the FED prints. There is a WEE bit (Read: FUCKING ASSLOAD) more to it than that

Still a retard i see. Come back when you know reality.

Here's a hint. What do you think will happen when you take these 75% of the US population and make them so called "skilled"?

How much more are you willing to pay so people can be paid more?

This would cause poor people to pay more for a cheeseburger.

Prices are already as high as they can be for the market. Obviously there will be some increases on some products because some people will have more disposable income, but it won't be anywhere near enough to nullify the earnings increase.

Where is the extra money coming from?

If McDonalds can only hire people (teenager or not) at $15 an hour how is Mcdonalds going to make a profit? Either raise the prices or decrease workforce.

Or their is that third option of not being so greedy and taking less of a profit? I mean is profit at every cost the best solution? Or could you be happy with double the price to employee people while still making a faily big profit all while paying your people a decent wage? I know i could.

Utopia is that way -> Consider pouring gasoline over yourself and lighting a match for that level of stupidity.

Investors come first in the world of public corporations. Finance Class. You Needs It.

I do need some of the shit you are smoking that is for sure. You'd be wise to educate yourself on why what you just regurgitated is bad in the long run.

But you are still young, so their may be a glimour of hope for you yet.

Then people aren't going to take the risks in creating businesses that they would otherwise. One way or the other jobs will drop or prices will increase.

Really? Man they got you hook line and sinker with the boogyman scare tactic bullshit.

So say you bring in a profit of 500 million/year from your business. But now you will only bring in 450 million/year. You are going to not create a business that still makes huge profits? Hmm 450million/year or $0/year.

Yeah..not buying it.

The majority of new jobs come from small business. Not 500 Million dollar profit companies.
