1. It's lazy to not close the door.
2. As pointed out the obvious waste of energy, like we need more or something.
3. Money that's worked for should be respected.
4. Special snowflakes...don't be that guy. Instead it's time to put your big boy pants.

I mean, geez, I live by myself, and electric in included in the rent, and even my lazy self knows enough not to leave the fridge open while I survey its contents. Be like the Green Berets, get in, get your target, and get out!

I even feel bad, when I'm stocking the fridge, and occasionally leave it open between grocery bag unloading.

Obviously you've been programmed by The Man and need to be woke! You need to listen to more Rage Against the Machine.

How many years you spend pissing on a toilet seat before someone told you to put it up?

There's a really expensive fridge I've seen advertised that lets you look in it from online, while the door is closed. Doesn't help if you want the door open to reach in there though.

Makes you wonder why all fridges aren't basins or designed like chest freezers. Should lower the amount of cold air pouring out of fridge.

OP needs to also start threads about the grief he gets for leaving dirty dishes in the living room and not clearing the lint filter on the dryer. Then there's leaving just a few ounces of milk in the jug and forgetting to wipe his shoes and not hanging up his wet towel.

Pretty easy to understand, logistics. Frozen items you can stack on top of each, you don't do that with items in the fridge.

Make sure you have water and lots of items in your fridge that have a high specific heat content. All the cool air basically spills out the bottom of the fridge as if it were a liquid when you open it and you will feel it more so on your feet.

Its better if you keep a good bit of water in the fridge because re-cooling down the air in the fridge again is no big deal, its gonna happen pretty much no matter how long the door is open. If you're worried about temperature consistency keep water in the fridge.

Drawers break when overloaded.
Also can't view from the front, prone to bacteria contamination from the top for food you are storing that isn't 100% covered, which would lead to faster spoilage, which is the whole $%^& point of the fridge to begin with.

You wouldn't be able to quickly clean out spoiled food in one look, you'd have to pick each one up and tilt it and check.

You would basically still lose the entire volume of air in each drawer rummaging around in it like you're looking for a sock that escaped to the void.

People are actually having a discussion about the design of refrigerators, when the thread subject was about being too self-centered to live with other human beings.

In addition to everything else that's been said, there's the floor space issue. Chest freezers take up a lot more of it than uprights. Which is one thing if you're putting it in a basement or some other out-of-the-way location, but for most people, not exactly desirable (or even feasible in many cases) in their kitchens...

Do your roommates or family members get all upset if you do so? Assuming you yourself like me don't mind leaving the fridge door open for some minutes while you prepare food or do something else near the fridge. It's so annoying to have someone tell you "the door!", "the door is open!", "don't leave the door open!", or "close the door!."
Let me help you out with this.
1) Figure out what shit you need out of the fridge
2) Get all that shit out of the fridge
3) Shut the fucking fridge door

This just falls under not knowing how the hell to properly use a fridge. Other than the waste of energy, leaving the fridge open for minutes at a time clearly illustrates a lack of brain function and inability to understand how to use one of the simplest appliances in a modern kitchen. What a fool.

This is why the govt wants to regulate and control everything...all cause of some dumbass out there. Now we're gonna end up with fridges that only open at certain times of the day and automatically close after 5 seconds.

But think of the children! Studies have shown that childhood obesity goes down by 17.3% if we don't allow fridges to open for more than 3 minutes per day and carbon emisions from the brushes in brushed motor compressors goes down by 0.003%. All new fridges will now be time locked to only open for 1 minute per meal, 3 times a day, at set time intervals set at the factory. Part of our healthy initiative.
