I have windows on my C: drive and i continually get a low space warning (i have windows XP). However, i have a total of 3.75 gigs on the drive. When i go to check what is using up all of the space, i find that 1.5 gigs is used up by the temporary internet files folder located here

C:\Documents and Settings\Mohit Sirohi\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files

My name is mohit sirohi just so you know

anyway, i open the folder and shift + del every file in there. However, after i check the folder, it shows that nothing has been deleted. In folder options, i have checked that it show all hidden and system files so it probably isn't that that is taking up that space.

After typing cleanmgr to run disk cleanup, it reports that that drive has ) mb of files that should be cleaned up.

Any suggestions?

THANKS

Have you tried from w/i IE, going to the Tools menu, [Internet Options], and clicking on the <Delete Files> button?

Although this won't help you files from filling upthe drive but is your swap file on a second harddrive? If its on your C drive move it. Although if you only have 1 HD but a couple partitions you may see some slowdown

Note: in Win XP you will have to type this entire location into your address bar and hit enter like a web address since Win XP WILL NOT allow you to see this folder unless you are actually in it.

Also IE 6 will "reserve" space for Temporary Internet Files. You can decrease it by going to:
Tools/Internet Options.

Settings and adjusting Amount of Disk Space to Use with the slider or the text box. Anything around 300 is plenty.
