Low scores w/GeForce Go 6800

Hi! I recently got myself a Fujitsu Siemens M4438G which has the nVidia GeForce Go 6800 graphics and Pentium M 2.0GHz. I haven't tried any 3D apps until today. I fired up 3DMark05 and ran the benchmark. I imediately noted that the framrate was very low (around 5), and when it ended I got a score of just 1000! 3DMark03 gave me 2800, which is also much lower than expected.

After running coolbits, when I got to the clock frequencies page, I see it's clocked at 325/600. Is this normal? Sounds quite low... Forceware version is 79.11, -the latest offered at the Fujitsusiemens page (no reference drivers on the nVidia page).

So what could be wrong, or isn't performance supposed to be better than this?

Regards,
// Frank

Yea, I was hoping someone here had the same Laptop, or atleast the same GPU and had ran some benchmarks on it.

Someone told med before I should score around 4000 points. I have 1/4 of that...

I have a go7400 256MB with a Core Duo 2300 and get just under 2,000 in 3D06. I don't think your score sounds too low.

Over at hardforums.com there is a thread with a link to a Excel spreadsheet containing 3D05 results from many of the members' systems. You might check there to compare results. Or you could use the Futuremark ORB.

Here it is: text

Looks like the average go6800 score is 4,101. wow. guess I'm wrong.

Well, that confirms what I've heard.. Go6800 should have around 4000. So this also confirms something is definitely wrong.

Speedstep on the CPU seem to be working, as it's running at 2GHz under load. What could it be? I don't have many drivers to choose from...

Any ideas?

I know the score is too low. My question is what could be wrong, and what I could check.

What driver version are you using? How is your card clocked?

Your memory clocks look low, unless that's 600 X 2.

Do you have things like AA, AF, etc forced on?

I think its X2.

AA and AF is "application controlled", so I think 3DMark should take care of those settings in a proper way...

Thanks to the guys over at Notebookreview.com forums, the problem is solved now. They linked to some new drivers and video bios, which did the trick! Now I get 3746 in 3DMark05.

Its quite remarkable that FSC delivers their computers with up to two year old drivers which are buggy and doesn't even come close to the expected performance. (The wireless network drivers also didn't work as they should).
