Only a very small minority of memory got heatsinks/"heatsinks". And alot of those that do mostly serves a bling bling factor, rather than functional.
Yea, memory heat-sinks has to be the most useless thing since (insert favourite here). I mean what's the typical TDP of a DIMM, ~2-3W...? :\

Is there a standards body, or official standards document, that specifies what exactly are the names that industry uses to refer to the different heights? I need to research this actually, so any help is greatly appreciated.
I believe they hide the fact the memory chips are of low quality or are run faster than recommended, and heatspreaders are cheaper than proper chips.what the heck is with the big heatspreaders. ram doesn't need cooling. Personally I think they look stupid.
