I have an AMD 64 San Deigo 3700 core processor in a MSI motherboard. I noted this week after building the new system, that the processor is listed at 994 Mhz in the system properties, and at 1004 Mhz core speed in CPU-z. It lists a multiplier of 5.0 and a HTT of 200.9 Mhz. Is this right? I thought that it would normally be around 2200 Mhz?

I turned off the MSI cpu software cooler thinking that this may be throttling it down, but it is still at 1000 Mhz.

Help!

This is what it says in 3dMark05:

Manufacturer AMD
Family AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3700+
Architecture 64-bit
Internal Clock 1.0 GHz
Internal Clock Maximum 2.2 GHz
External Clock 200.0 MHz
Socket Designation CPU 1
Type Central
HyperThreadingTechnology N/A
Capabilities MMX, CMov, RDTSC, 3DNow!, Extended 3DNow!, SSE, SSE2, PAE, NX
Version AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3700+
Caches
Level 1 128 KB
Level 2 1 MB
Level 3 0 B

So am I running at 1.0Ghz or 2.2Ghz???

Thanks!

Does it stay at that speed when you run somesort of cpu-intensive task?

You're sitting at 5x multiplier; I think all you're seeing is Cool n' Quiet in action.

Have you enabled Cool n Quiet? That will lower your multiplier when the cpu is idling then ramp it back up to 11 when under load. Run cpu-z & Prime95 togther & see if the multiplier goes back up.

Arrrggh, sometimes I am so foolish! yes, Cool n Quiet was enabled, and running prime95 jumped the multiplier up to 11. Silly me....
