I just got myself a brand new 8800 GTX and so far every game i've played perfectly until i get to F.E.A.R. The problem is when I start it up and play i always get 9 fps. No matter how high or low the settings are. I even set i the res to 800x600 and everything turned to the lowest setting and i still get 9fps. So i'm new here btw, but i'm hoping u guys can help me with my problem. Thx in advance

What's the rest of your system like? And did you run driver cleaner before installing your new card and installing those drivers?

Is this a new build? If so did you install the latest chipset drivers for your system?

no this is not a new build, i just upgraded my video card to a 8800 gtx. the weird thing is fear is the only game that is performing the same with 9fps and every diff. setting. i just played bf2 and got 90 fps on 1680x1050 everything on high. Fear is the only game, really wierd.

I just reinstalled Fear and the patch and still the same thing. i dont know if it matters but i use the "test settings" under performance to test my fps

try using fraps or something like that. i can run fear on pretty high settings with my 8800GTS 320 and i get way more FPS than 9
maybe the test thing is broken in fear or something?

if you still haven't run driver cleaner, you need to... it's a free program and may make a huge difference.

Plus make sure you have processor drivers installed and up to date.

ok, i just found out that my g15 keyboard and g5 mouse hurt the game and do i had to disable all human interface devices but it sux cause i cant use my lcd screen on my keyboard and configure my mouse. The problem is i only still get about 28 frames which is playable but i would like to have it higher, if anybody knows anything I'd gladly appreciate it

yea, i called them up and the guy asked me if i had a g15 keyboard and a g5 mouse and he told to disable all the HID devices, but i only get 29 frames which is disappointing because i have a 8800 GTX.

well FEAR is pretty cpu reliant too... so if you have a slower cpu that could be bottlenecking you

Can you get higher than 29fps w/ low settings or you still stuck at that regardless?

maybe try installing the previous video card drivers. maybe the new ones have problems with fear?
