A tissot rose gold. No numbers on the face but it has distinct line markings at every hour:

I like this a lot for a woman's watch. Understated, but elegant and functional. The chronograph above it is sharp, but I don't care for the gems. Sticking gems around a watch looks ghetto to me. Either Baltimore hood rat, or Russian mobster. Personal bias...

what, you're in norway??
No, but I came into it from a Scandinavian perspective. It's also foreign, so the word de-emphasizes the religion. It's more a celebration of cold air, and long nights for me. The best time of year. Well... second best after autumn.

I'd go for the cheaper end of the range, is she in school?
School, nursing home work, and bar/restaurant work.

edit:
~$200 range seemed about right to me. A nice gift without being ridiculous, and perhaps not exactly as desired.

Fossil actually have some decent watches for $100 or less. I have a Fossil from 2003 that still works like new.

I got her a better stethoscope this year. A Littmann Classic III. I don't think she needs any specialized gear. I imagine all that would be supplied by school/work, and unapproved gear would invite shitstorms and lawsuits.

Those portable pulse ox monitors are awesome, you can double check the pulse, get an O2 sat, and if the readings are out of whack, you grab a work supplied unit to confirm. They're accurate too.

LoL! Meets two requirements, and is $850!! :^D

Honestly, If I knew a watch was exactly what she wanted, and she'd take care of it, I wouldn't be opposed to spending a good chunk of money. Buy a good tool once, and it'll last the rest of your life.

I don't know about that. I spent $2800 (actually, that was the MSRP, I paid $2300 OTD) on a TAG Heuer automatic a year ago and have already had it in once to have it calibrated as it was losing about 30 seconds a day. It is an automatic movement though and it has a sweeping second hand but I don't expect it to keep good time without some periodic maintenance. Plus, if you take it off for more than a day or so, it stops and you can't set the date if it is past 6PM or you risk damaging the date movement. It's also worth maybe half what I paid for it... if I wanted to sell it.

It is a nice looking watch though and it wears and looks good on my wrist. Looks exactly like this.

I *really* like the Swiss army watches I saw on amazon, and I think they would have been a better match for the task, but they weren't what she asked for. Maybe some other year.
