LOW Memory footprint browser

Moved to a new location at work and I'm stuck on a Windows XP 1GB RAM, Celeron (single core) CPU. Ouch! Coming from an i5 that hurts a lot.

Anyways, chrome (installed on the machine) is painfully slow (when minimising,maximising)

I need:
- A portable browser
- LEAST memory footprint browser possible with javascript support (for gmail)

Any options guys?

Midori would not start on my home pc...went into a loop but from reviews I saw the RAM usage is 'chromesque'....
Palemoon checking it out...

Edit: Tried slim browser. 1 gmail tab 140MB...Add one youtube tab. 300MB. Single process.

Palemoon for XP....launched and gmail tab open...210MB RAM used :s Adding youtube adds only 30MB more...

There's only so much you're gonna get. It's the web that's heavy moreso than the browser.

Yes.

Gmail is garbage. Either the browser will run it slow, or the page will break. Choose your poison
