I'm getting a score of 4550 in 3dMark05 on a brand new build with a 6800GT. Should I be getting ready to RMA? Everything seems a little whacky with some games to (far cry graphics look awefull, to put it plainly)
and graphics are choppy in medium res mode.

AThlon 64 3500+ Winnie
A8V Deluxe
eVGA 6800GT (66.93 drivers)
2x512mb Corsair 3200c2
Audigy 2zs
36g raptor
200 gig seagate
 
Sounds about right to me... You have to realize that the majority of the GT scores your seeing around 5,000 are overclocked to ultra speeds. I get like 4,600 on my pro without an overclock, and ATI cards have been doing better with 05.

yeah, that guy probably was using 3dmark03.
 
4550 in 3dmark 2005 is a bit under par i guess, 5000 is the norm for 05 i suppose.. but never had a 6800 card so what do i know.. if you are running 2003, 4550 is aweful...

try lots of things like disabling fast writes, agp apeture to 256mb umm, make sure chipset and AGP drivers are installed....sounds like u got issues if farcry is choppy in medium
 
maybe so, but he says things look aweful and hes getting choppy farcry medium mode.. what resolution, what aa/af, does sound like agp drivers perhaps

Are you using the farcry demo? maybe v1.0? If it is the demo there's no fix since NV40 is badly implementated but if it is the full game try with patch v1.3.
 
No I'm using the full blown version. I'll download patch 1.3 and see what happens.

As for drivers, what would your recomend? I've read a lot about 66.93 having some issues.
 
I would recommend VXG 71.20 drivers. I've tried a lot of them and this ones are just great. IQ and performance are superb. VXG is my choice from now on, and I'm more of an anti-modded drivers than any other thing, but can't resist to this ones. You can find them in Guru3d
 
i wouldnt suggest 71.20 if u play HL2...nvidia's drivers have been really buggy in that game. run 67.65's if you play HL2/CSS. they dont have either of the issues that alot of the other drivers do.

I play HL2 with no problems and smooth as hell. At least VXG 71.20s work great.

This line really urks me... "Should I be getting ready to RMA?" For what? For getting a good score on 3DMark05? Good gracious no offense but you sound a bit spoiled... No flaming here. Just admiring what kind of people we've become.
 
what "irks" me is peole who don't read the whole thread and then post BS. can't you read? he was hearing people were getting 8,000's, he obviously was confusing his setup with others.

i agree RMA BS is out of whack, but so is posting without reading/understanding the thread.
