low level format - 6 HOURS!

I decided to low level format my Maxtor 40G HDD for the hell of it, since I'm going to reinstall Windows and everything. I thought, no problem, it will only take an hour or two. This isn't my primary HDD, but it will be after I'm done.

JEEZUS it finishes 6 hours later. Maxtor's LLF utilty must write a zero to EVERY damned byte of capacity on the platter, instead of using a 1:2 or 1:3 bias like most other utilities. I had to go 6 hours without my computer during my peak computer obsession time of the day! Ahhhhhhhhh!

oh no not during peak computer obsession time!!!!!!!! did you have to actually do somethign like watch only tv, use phone, eat, do chores, or god forbid.... GO OUT?!1?!?!
P.S: seeing as you don't know me i should explain... i am NOT being sarcastic rofl... i am quite serious.. i am a lazy person when i wanna be and i hate when my comp is down or unusable especially at peak UT playing time!!!!

I had to use Mozilla for a couple of days when my hdd died. It drove me nuts.
