Low FPS in WoW with GeForce 9800 GTX

Hey all, hopefully you can help me. I recently upgraded my computer, but I'm feeling like I'm not getting the fps I should be in World of Warcraft. I can get 80-90+ when I'm in a very small/uncrowded area, but that's rare. Normally in high population areas, I'm only getting high teens/low 20s. I've scanned my computer for viruses and spyware, and it's clean, as far as I can detect. I've not had any video problems to my knowledge since getting the card.

I have two theories, maybe someone can confirm either of them. The first is that the GeForce 9800 GTX needs two power plugins, and I only had one, so I had to use one of the converters to convert the other type of power plug to the kind that the GeForce 9800 GTX needs. Could this be causing the card to not get enough power?

My other question is about the motherboard (listed below). It states this about the memory:

2 x 240-pin DIMM sockets support max. 4GB, DDR2 667/533/400 MHz, non-ECC, un-buffered memory Note: Due to the chipset's limitation, the system allocates a certain amount of memory for devices; hence, the actual memory size is less than the total size of physical memory installed.

I have 2 2g chips installed, but it only sees 2.5g. I understand that non-32-bit systems won't see the whole amount, but I figured I'd see more than 2.5g.

I was told on another forum that the Intel Pentium D is a bottleneck for the 9800 GTX and could be causing such low fps. Can anyone confirm this?

I've attached my DxDiag, if anyone wants to take a look at it. Thanks for any help that you can give!

First of all, holy crap that's a big post.

Second of all, WoW is COMPLETELY CPU/RAM bound. Your GPU is bored, guaranteed.

Pentium Ds suck, that'd be the source of your slowdown in crowded areas. Suck it up, WoW slows down for everyone in crowded areas.

Sorry, never know when someone's gonna ask for a DxDiag...

Good to know. Is there a cpu that I can replace this one with using the same mb that might perform better, or am I stuck with Pentium Ds?

My slowdown is not just in super crowded areas...I'm even seeing 20-30 fps in instances/low crowd areas.

its your CPU not your GPU, as Jax said wow eats CPU/RAM like crazy

it wont become non CPU bound untill you get a C2D or a Quad

Yep, either of those would be fine.
I run WoW on a E6600 with a 4850 and it hums along nicely.

I've only got 1Gb of RAM and it slows down a lot when the server is busy and I'm in Shattrath. Battlegrounds and arenas are mostly fine.
