Hi everyone,

I’m getting lower FPS than expected in Apex Legends even though my PC should run it smoothly.

My specs:

  • CPU: Ryzen 5 5600
  • GPU: RTX 3060
  • RAM: 16GB DDR4 3200MHz
  • Storage: 500GB NVMe SSD
  • PSU: 650W Bronze
  • OS: Windows 11

What I’ve tried:

  • Updated GPU drivers
  • Checked CPU/GPU temps (both normal)
  • Lowered graphics settings
  • Closed background programs

Even with these steps, FPS stays around 50–60, while I’ve seen others with similar specs getting higher.

Any ideas on what could be causing this or what else I should check?

Thanks a lot.

On a 5600 + 3060 combo at 1080p you should be seeing 100-140 FPS at medium-high settings. If you’re stuck at 50-60, it’s usually a config lock (FPS cap, adaptive res, or V-Sync) rather than raw horsepower.
Couple things to check that often bite people in Apex:
  • Check render resolution / adaptive resolution target in video settings. Make sure it is off.
  • In videoconfig.txt (in Saved Games\Respawn\Apex\local), look for setting.cl_fps_max. Set it to something like 144 or 0 (uncapped). Apex defaults to a 60 FPS cap sometimes.
  • Double-check in GPU-Z that the 3060 is actually running at PCIe x16 3.0/4.0, not stuck in x1. Seen that happen if the card isn’t seated right or if BIOS is funky.
