The fortron/sparkle FSP line are the known good ones. Their Power-Q budget brand is still a bit of an unknown quantity but I haven't heard much negative feedback about them.

The 300watt Fortron with the 120m/m fan is a great power supply...Will power that box standing on its head.

Make no mistake...Fortron/Sparkle have the best "bang for the buck" in the world of power supply's...Second place is way and I mean way back there.

In my humble opinion of course.

300W, 330W, or 350W Seasonic from eWiz. He'll like the fact that they're more efficient than most other brands - remind him of the fact that this will save (a little bit of) money on the electric bill. And that clean power means longer life for components, just as good food means longer life for us organic things.
