I dont know about yall, but I like just running 3dmark05 for the awesome lookin tests, the stuff looks tight. Anyway, I have a 3.0 Northwood running at 3.6 ghz with a BFG 6800. I overclocked the 6800 more to 385/800 with coolbits. But from what I have been reading, I should be scoring about 3400 on a stock 6800 and right now the most I can get out of her is 2846. I have a p4p800 with the most recent bios update, chipset drivers, and with the nvidia 61.77 video drivers. Am I forgetting something? Is there something I am overlooking? Any help would be greatly appreciated :) Thanks guys

Hey I'm in the same boat as you! I have a BFG GeForce 6800 Ultra (425/1100) and my scores are only between 37xx - 39xx! The highest I got was 43xx, and that was only once. I'm also using 61.77 drivers.

EDIT:
-------
Ok cbehnken just replied before I posted, so I'll try the 66.31 drivers...ony thing, does uninstalling the 61.77 drivers from the Add/Remove completely remove the drivers? Also if I ever choose to uninstall the 66.31 drivers, or other "Beta" drivers, all I need to do is goto Device Manager and click "Uninstall Drivers" and that'll take care of it right? Thanks in advance.

I'm running 66.32, so I guess I'm looking at the best case scenerio with my little slideshow. Personally, I'm not to bothered by it. This test was designed with te future in mind, so the best we've got to offer today should perform modestly.

Heh, my 2600 XP-M and 9800Pro are only getting 2661, and 1fps when it tests the CPU. So lame.

My score was way lower with the 61.77 drivers, using the 66.70 drivers now.
6800GT
3888 with 61.77 drivers
4681 with 66.70 drivers

5140@400/1100 with 66.70 drivers

I've got a similar problem. I'm on Leadtek 6800NU (61.77) and an A64 3000+ and am only getting 2400-2650 in the program.

I'm currently using the .77 drivers but I'll change when I get home!

I just wanted to know, do I just download the drivers I want to use and install them over the one I'm using now? or will I have to first uninstall my current drivers?

One more random question, what is a safe operating temp for a grahics card? My leadtek 6800 is currently at 53C (345/750) but I dunno what temp I should keep it under!

Thanks and sorry about the last question but couldnt find an answer and didnt want to post a new topic ^_^

Just install over the top.

Depending on the package you download, you may have to go into device manager, select your card, hit update driver and pick the new driver from where you saved it.

Are all these unofficial drivers safe?

I mean, the 61.77's are the latest official ones, yet there have been so many since. If I install anything newer than the 61.77's, are there any risks to my card, my software, or my PC in general? Also, could it lead to artifacts or incompatibility issues of any kind?

My GPU idles at around 62C, which is pretty warm, so is that cause for concern?

And lastly, if all is good to go, which are the best drivers to get (I don't want anything too recent and and risky) and where would I download them?

Thanks.

Which drivers are you using? I'm trying out the latest Omega (based on Cat 4.9) and my 9800 Pro with a P4 @ 3.29Ghz only gets:

1986 Stock (378/337)
2197 Oc'd (430/366)

EDIT: Bah... somehow AF got put on 8x at the driver level.

New score: 2561

Alrighty fellas, got the problem worked out, thx for all the help. Heres how i got it fixed incase any of you are having the same problems.

Using NVIDIA's most recent drivers (61.77), I was scoring 2700 on 3dmark05 at 3.6ghz (Northwood) with the video card overclocked to 383/800.

I then switched to the 66.31 drivers, AND remembered to change my image settings to High Performance, instead of Quality (i think its on quality by default) and was able to get 3153 out of her at 383/800 still.

Finally, I switched to the 66.70's and went to 396/800, and was able to get a scorching 3816. Needless to say, I was very impressed. The 66.70 drivers were a little weird because they didnt have a .exe, so I had to reinstall drivers under device manager.

Anyway, thanks for the advice everyone, I hope this helps anyone else out there who is confused on why they are getting lower scores :)

Are the non-official drivers safe, though?

I can' decide whether to get some new drivers now or whether to wait for an official release (any idea when that might be?)

What about performance and compatibility in general, though? While I'd like a better 3DMark05 score, compatibility and performance in real games is more important. Do I risk damaging any hardware/software with these drivers or will they cause artifact or anything else of the sort in modern games?

There's gotta be a reason why the current official 61.77s give such poor performance in 3DMark05...I'll stick with these since my system is stable and all my games run fine...no need to risk anything just for 3DMark05 lol :p

I noticed other improvements when I went from the 61.77 drivers to the 66.70's. The hitching I was getting before went away. I was getting some strange images with 3dmark05 that also went away when I updated the drivers. So far they have worked much better.
