Garfield, KY is not Bumfuck, Kentucky. Garfield is a good 30 minutes outside of Bumfuck. I'll have you know that Leachfield has the best pump and piss on the whole Western KY Parkway.

I know I've been to Garfield but I can't remember why. I must have been doing something at Ft. Knox.

Yep, Garfield is 20 minutes West of Ft. Knox. (I still do some "consulting" for the USACOE there).
Leitchfield (Leachfield) is where I was born & raised.

For once, I'm glad I live in Iowa. Most neighbors have crappy single-stage snowblowers that work most of the time but not in the big blizzards. One neighbor keeps a good snowblower running and another uses it to snowblow 8-10 driveways every time it snows. I keep them supplied with MGD and whenever there's a football game another neighbor starts a fire in his driveway, and we watch the game in his garage. I also don't have to buy tools because between the electrician and the guy who installs hardwood floors we've got most everything covered.

In a strange coincidence, our neighborhood is also in one of the best school districts around (good people = good kids and involved parents, who woulda thunk it?).

Huzzah for good neighbors.

Bunch of good people and we all look out for one another even though we really don't need to (the neighborhood is quiet and in a great suburb). Heck, this last huge storm my neighbor came over and helped me clear the snow, then we hung out at his house and had a few beers, walked over to another neighbors house and helped him out as well. Good neighbors make a neighborhood. Mr. Rogers style

So I was thinking as I read the rant, this is why my town declares snow emergencies so people can't park on the street during bad storms...

Was also thinking I have great neighbors, the 80 year old guy next door will clear our sidewalk and driveway when I'm not home, because he says my wife shouldn't have to and it's the gentlemanly thing to do. I'll be sad when he passes! We usually give him beer or cookies or something in return. My other neighbors have fires in the backyard where we sit and BS and drink lots of beer til 2am. We all share food from our gardens in summer, take each others trash cans back to the house, it's a great neighborhood.

As bad as you think this winter has been, it doesn't hold a candle to the wicked hell that was the winter of 1995-96. That one truly SUCKED.

Come on, Red Dawn, what kind of fool are you? Hopefully the water is still turned on for the foreclosed house. You know that they're going to auction that house off or sell it for what they can get out of it. What you need to do is raise the property value for that house, so you get a good neighbor. If the water is still on, take a garden hose, attach it, and start one of those quiet lawn sprayers (not the spish spish spish spish t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t spish spish ones). Start watering the lawn now, so they have the nicest, greenest lawn on the block. Well, "now", if it's well below freezing. Their lawn will green up before anyone else's in the spring. Of course, some of it will probably get on the neighbor's car, especially if you AIM it right, but they'll probably be happy to realize how important that green lawn will be for attracting good neighbors.
