OCCT (2hr, medium) + LinX (20pass) stable overclock: (meaning it is stable under OCCT medium for 2 hours)

Testing Notes:
-Does system automatically rebooting mean not enough voltage somewhere? it has happened to me a few times in the past with this new mb when trying 3.8ghz @ 1.4vCore in bios. bumped it to 1.45v now
-btw, i love how there is no drop in vCore (according to cpu-z's reading) between idle and load.

Wow. Looks like a winner if it passes some more stress testing. I've found setups to pass OCCT and fail Prime... not so often the opposite.

really.. can more people chime in on this? in my experience 2hr of OCCT stable = 24hour stable in p95.

has other people had their cpu's pass occt but fail p95?

Yeah, I love how I get absolutely no drop or spike with my Enermax Revolution 900w & UD3R board. It's like its on auto drive at 1.392vcore on my Q9650 @ 8x500fsb. Simply amazing.

You might want to check into that HDmonitor reading with your min readings.

EDIT: yes, that's possible for it to pass OCCT then fail Prime95. A good rule to follow is Prime95 Large FFT's, then blend, & also use LinX and either the IN OS mem tester (forgot the name) and Memtest86 for pre-OS testing...

well just now, my 8x475 (3.8ghz) passed OCCT (medium) for 2 hours, LinX for 20 passes, and now i'll go for a 24hour run of P95 Small.

Edit:

While running p95 small on the above clocks my pc randomly restarted while testing.

i went straight into the bios and bumped vcore up to 1.425v, MCH to 1.30v, vram to 2.0v, loosen ram timings to 6-6-6-18.

testing p95 small again...

yea it always messes up my fan readings. i dont get crazy extreme readings like that with my core temps tho

I've never passed OCCT and failed Prime but have passed Prime and failed OCCT many times. I usually do both, 24hr prime then at least 5-6 hours of OCCT3.

how do i solve this: my computer restarts when running p95. i woke up to my desktop freshly restarted =

my 3.8ghz passes: 2hours of OCCT Medium and 20 passes of LinX (all ram)

my vcore is 1.45v
my MCH is 1.3v
my ram is 2.0v

I'm thinking ram. I'd try different strap settings...starting with MCH strapping 400mhz, and maybe underclocking. Let me go into my bios and find the exact settings.

EDIT: try this...then underclock ram if that doesn't work. Just trying to remove ram from the equation.

(G) MCH Frequency Latch.....................[ 400mhz ]

In your bios listings you've got 1.9v on DRAM...may want to double-check since you mentioned 2.0v

Also play with your CPU Termination voltages. Try 1.3v off the bat, up to 1.4v

ICH core is southbridge so doubtful that would help with this issue but worth a shot.

I believe the cpu termination voltage has to do with FSB, so considering how high you are on a 8x multi, that might help. Not sure though. anyways, what are your temps like?

I have a Tuniq with my Q6600, right now it is just at 3.2 ghz cuz its not my main computer and I dont work with it a whole lot.

my temps are pretty good. i have my cpu + gpu on the same loop on a thin MCR320 radiator and OCCT peaks at 59C (cpu cores) @ 1.45vCore, 3.8ghz

so far my 3.8ghz (8 x 475) is 16hour p95 small stable. got a few more hours to go.

i have had a 120mm 1800rpm fan blowing on my NB area (mounted onto the side top-left of the 4x120mm mountings) from my side intake. i just opened up my door and touched the heatsinks to do a hand test and the NB (bottom most) was hot, the mosfets1 (top left connected to the heatpipe) was hotter, and the mosfets2(has its own heatsink) was hottest. all of which i couldn't leave my finger on for more than 5 seconds due to burning. thats bad!

Is it flashing a blue screen before reboot? Do you have it set to halt on blue screens?

It's not just the fact of over 400Mhz.

The A, B, C, and D settings on the memory multiplier correspond to the FSB strap. So does the (G)MCH Frequency Latch. I don't remember off-hand, but I think A=200, B=266, C=333, and D=400 for sure.

Not all memory ratios are available for all straps. I think at 2.00 you only have the choice of B or D. When I first started, I just chose B at random. B worked like a champ for me up to (and I think including) 400Mhz. Then D carried me up to a FSB high of 485. I'm not sure if I could have taken it farther since 475 is my target and I decided to just stop there. I think I read somewhere that at certain frequencies you can use one of the other straps, but I don't recall the specifics... I suspect maybe at some multiple of the frequency, like at 400mhz both A and D might work (don't quote me on that :) )

I recommend setting (G)MCH Frequency Latch on auto because if you set it to 333Mhz and then set memory multiplier to 2.00D (which corresponds to 400mhz FSB strap) you get instability. If you leave (G)MCH Frequency Latch on auto, it will get the strap from the memory multiplier. This way you only have to change the one setting. I suppose if you knew what you (the general you, not you specifically) were doing, there might be some reason why you would set them differently.

As Shmee noted, upping your CPU termination helps the higher your FSB goes. General consensus is for 45nm quads don't go over 1.4v, but I don't know what the max is on 65nm quads...

so for a 475mhz FSB, should i leave the MCH Strap on auto? what about the memory multiplier? should i use 2.00B or 2.00D? whats the difference?

i've updated my 2nd post in this thread with my current up to date bios options.

my problem is that my pc keeps restarting under load w/ LinX or P95. I think its because i dont have enough voltage somewhere. i'm already feeding 1.5v for the vCore, 1.30v for the NB (MCH), and 2.0v to my ram. the last thing that i've changed is the CPU Termination voltage. it was changed from Auto (1.20v) to 1.30v just now and it is still restarting under linX load.

please help me
